Cathy Park Kelly is an author and facilitator living in Cape Town with her husband and son. She self-published her first memoir, Inside Outside, (about teaching life skills to juvenile offenders) which sold over 1000 copies (close to bestseller status for an unknown author in South Africa!) and was mentioned in Parliament by the then Minister of Correctional Services.
Her second memoir, Boiling a Frog Slowly, (about surviving - and thriving - after intimate partner abuse) was published by Karavan Press in 2021 and was long-listed for the Sunday Times Literary Awards 2022. In the first year of its publication, it was reprinted three times and generated a profit, not a small feat for an unknown author and an indie publisher! Cathy loves helping authors reignite, find ways to promote their books, find their readers and make more sales without selling their souls.

Fee Option 2 - R600
Fee Option 3 - R800

We’re experimenting with a sliding scale fee model, allowing for the Writer’s Way events to be offered at multiple price points based on your financial circumstances.
For it to work, we’re relying on principles of truthfulness and accountability.
Teachers deserve to be paid and course participants deserve to attend personal development courses which recognise the multiple reality of economic access and privilege that exist.
Fee option 1 is a reduced rate for those whose budget genuinely cannot accommodate option 2.
Fee option 2 represents the fair and true cost of the course.
Fee option 3 is for those who are able to pay for themselves and pay extra towards making it possible for another person to attend a LRC writing course at a nominal rate.
