Floss M. Jay was born Felicity Mitchell in 1948 and grew up in the green and lovely farming district of Dargle in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. She grew through boarding school in Pietermaritzburg, Drama and English training at Durban University, taught in school for years and then trained school teachers. She flew with some joy and some pain through living in Edinburgh, Cape Town and Johannesburg and back to Pietermaritzburg. She wrote her life as she went along through three marriages and having three extraordinarily wonderful children. Lionel Abrahams was her writing mentor in Johannesburg in the 80’s and … a most wonderful discipline and springboard for sharing writing. Floss writes because it shapes her life and clarifies the meaning of experience. She currently works as a psychotherapist in Pietermaritzburg. Contributing author to the Life Righting Collective’s This is how it is anthology.
