The Life Righting Collective's Mayday poetry course is our invitation to you to come and attend to the things in your life that are asking to be looked at through a poetic lens. The distress call ‘mayday’ was designed to ease recognition of calls for help and phonetically echoes the French ‘m’aidez’ (help me). And help we can provide, in the form of a dose of poetic healing through writing facilitated by the Life Righting Collective.
During the workshop, we will look at how poetry can help us uncover the rhythm and rhyme of our lives, the images that help us and those that taunt us. We will plot our stories in the music of words and gently approach parts of our life stories that call out to us for help.
We will help guide you to express our Mayday theme for a day on Saturday May 11 at The Refinery, 17 Owl Street, Johannesburg, between 10am and 4pm.
We believe that creativity is our birthright so why not give yourself the gift of creatively reviewing your maydays and finding ways to help them save you?
