Peter Surtees is a Chartered Accountant (SA), born in Bloemfontein in 1941, and lived and practised there until 1980 when he joined the academic staff of Rhodes University. After early retirement in 1997, he moved to the Cape and has worked in the tax field ever since, moving to Napier in 2016. He began writing in order to record in memoirs the world he grew up in, so alien to today’s, so that his descendants will have an idea of their roots. He writes in prose and poetry, invariably about the world around him, past and present.
He writes a blog called South African Memoirist, and is a contributing author to the Life Righting Collective’s This is how it is anthology.
