Janet Giddy was born in 1959 in Barkly East, South Africa. She is a mother of four adult children, and is a medical doctor who spent many years in KwaZulu-Natal in rural Family Medicine, and later in HIV and Maternal-Child care, before moving to Cape Town in 2010. She has experienced the healing power of writing, as a way to reflect on stimulating, disturbing, quirky or meaningful life experiences. Her current professional interest is in the First 1000 Days of Life, Resilience and Relationships; for fun she walks, cycles and travels to exotic places. As a tenth generation South African, she is writing a detailed Family History while on sabbatical. Contributing author to the Life Righting Collective’s This is how it is anthology.
